Duck Duck Boots

How to Style Duck Boots

Duck boots are great for everyday wear and go with most outfits. Most companies offer different takes on the original duck boots but my favorite are from L. L. Bean. I specifically bought the L. L. Bean Boots because they are 100% waterproof and the chain link bottom is great for walking in mud. You can style them in several different ways. I add some pictures of a couples of the different ways you can wear them.

You can wear them with shorts or a skirt. This is perfect for summer days where it might be raining or you decide to go for a hike. In the picture below I was going for a hike up a mountain while I was on a summer vacation. I put on thicker sock because it add a little extra comfort against my skin so the boots didn't rub.

Duck boots can also go great with leggings and a cute pair of socks. I personally love wearing thick and patterned socks to add an extra demension to my outfits. It the best feeling when you can perfectly match your socks to your sweatshirt or sweater. Leggings and duck boots are great for when the temperature starts to drop.

Perfect for winter and fall would be pairing the duck boots and jeans. This is my favorite look, they just go so nicely together. You can also tie your laces different ways to change up the feel of your boots. Some days I want a looser feel to them so I would tie them as shown in the picture below. But if I am hiking or wearing thinner socks I like to lace them all the way up and tie them like a regular boot.

Here's some pictures of the different outfits that I wore my boots with.

The Apple of my Eye

The Perfect Pair of Sunnies for Fall

One of my favorite ways to accessorize is with sunglasses, there is no better accessory than one that looks cute but can also protect your eyes from harmful sun rays. I just got a pair of Ray-Ban Erikas and they are perfect for fall. The brown acetate frame is light on my face and nose. The metal temples are really light and comfortable around my ears. But most importantly they are polarized because it adds an extra layer of protection from the sun. Some of the benefits of wearing polarized lenses are that they eliminate glares, increase clarity, and most importantly reduce eye strain. Also pictured is my new favorite fall nail polish color. This purpley red color, more like a wine, is a great way to transition from summer to fall colors. This color is called Stop, Drop & Shop and it was apart of Essie's 2018 Fall Collection!

Off to the Races

Ladies Day at Monmouth Park

Hey everyone! I had the privilege of going to Monmouth Park, located in Oceanport, New Jersey, where I attended Ladies' Day sponsored by Lilly Pulitzer two years in a row! A portion of all paid admission went to support a Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This was so much fun, and not only did I get to watch the horse races but I got to see a Lilly fashion show that showed off the up and coming fall features!! That was so much fun and afterwards you were able to hit up a Lilly Pulitzer pop store for some shopping.

Off to the Races

This was super fun and something I would totally recomend doing with a friend. I went with my Grandmother this year and she had a blast. She loves seeing the horse races but also enjoyed the fashion show. It was so awesome seeing all the people that showed up in there Lilly dresses. There were so many from a bunch of her different collections. I saw some that were probably on sale before I was even born. Which makes me super happy knowing my dresses can last that long.

Beautiful sand sculpture at the entrance.

My Outfit

So for last year I wore my awesome monogrammed Marley Lilly sun hat, it fit in perfectly with what everyone else was wearing. There was also a contest for who could have the best derby hat. I love my Marley Lilly hat so much its both comfy and stylish. You can wear it to the beach, the lake, and of course the race track. The cute dress that I wore was a T.J. Maxx find, I bought it back when I joined Phi Mu because we needed a white dress. Let me tell you it has come in handy multiple times. It is really comfy and has a perfect fit esspecially for a day at the track.

Off to the Races

This year I finally bought a Lilly Pulitzer dress so I was able to wear it. I bought the dress for my graduation, but I just really wanted a Lilly dress. I love the bright colors that are in it and not to metion my Jacks are a perfect match to the dress.

My Accessories

The bag that I brought to last years was perfcet to hold everything that I needed that day. I was able to fit my raincoat, because there was a chance of rain, my wallet, my sunglasses and case, and my phone. The bag was from L. L. Bean and I was able to get it monogrammed and the color matches perfectly with the color of the accents on the bag. It is a perfect bag for any actitivy, and the best part is that it has a zipper at the top so that my stuff won't fall out. The pearl necklace was a handmedown but it was the perfect necklace for that dress. I also wore two rope bracelets that went with the what I was wearing perfectly. The sailor knot bracelet was from a cute shop at the shore and the other is a Kiel James Patrick bracelet which has a super cute anchor clasp on it.

This year I also wore another one of my favorite KJP bracelets. This one if from there pearl bracelet collections and it has a super cute navy bow on it. The navy bow matched perfectly with my watch with is from Daniel Wellington. I love this watch because the band can be changed out so that it can match any outfit. I have two bands as of right now one is navy and white (the one seen in the picture) and a red, white, and blue one. Lastly I wore a bracelet that I go on sale at an Aeropostale.

My Fall Bucket List

Ultimate Fall Adventure List

Hey guys! Since its almost fall I thought I would share some of my favorite fall activities. Most of these ideas I plan on doing this up and coming fall and it's going to be so much fun!

My Fall Bucket List

1. Go to a pumpkin patch.

Pumpkins are one of the staples of fall, so first on the list is pumpkin picking. Usually pumpkin patches can be found at apple orchards, but you may have to pay extra to get to that part but  there are seperate businesses which only have pumpkin patches.  Pumpkin picking is all about finding the perfect pumpkin and it doesn't have to be perfect to everyone just perfect one for you. But it is also can be an opportunity to take some cute fall pictures and to get decorations your home.

My Fall Bucket List

2. Carve a pumpkin.

This goes along with going to a pumpkin patch, but you can also purchase one at your local grocery store or even a fake one at a craft store. The plus side to getting a fake one is you can bring it out every year and it won't go bad. Carving your own pumpkin can be fun and it's even better if you do with with friends or family. But it can be a huge mess but thats half the fun. For a little less hassle painting pumpkins can be an alternative option. Me and my roommates did this in our dorm room, it allowed for easy clean up and the pumpkins lasted much longer.

3. Get lost in a corn maze.
I did this one last year and it was so much fun I had to put it on here. The one I went was a little more than just a regular corn maze, it was part scavenger hunt, and it was so exciting. My sorority did it as a sisterhood bonding event, and we went later in the evening which meant that it was basically dark by the time we started it. So we split up in smaller groups and had to work together, using flashlights, to get out.

4.  Go apple picking.
Apple picking is a great bonding activity with family and friends. This is one of my favorite things to do with my Mom and sister, and it's something we have been doing since we were kids. We would go to one that is super close to my house and to get all the apples types that we liked so we could eat fresh apples and they would last all fall. My sorority also did a fall/recruitment photoshoot at an apple orchard and it was a blast, and we got some great pictures. So grab a basket and maybe a camera and get to some picking.

My Fall Bucket List

5. Drink some hot apple cider.
If you find yourself at an apple orchard, there is usually apple cider right around the corner. You can get it made fresh at the orchard, but if you want to try some without all the hassle you can find some at your regular grocery store or your local farmers market.

6.  Go to a local farmers' market.
Fall is all about fresh food and a sunny day. So take advantage of it and head out to your local market. This is a fun way to get to know and help support small business owners near you. You can also find some great farm fresh food.

7.  Go on a hayride.

Hayrides are a simple way to get in to the fall spirit. You can find just a regular old hayride through a farm or they do have some haunted hayrides. Either way they are both super fun ways to enjoy the season.

My Fall Bucket List

8. Visit a fair.

This was a huge part of my college experience, right around the corner from my school we had a huge fairground. It also happened to be one of the oldest in the United states. A group of us would always head there at least once during the time that it was up. The best part is that they hold a concert every year and the first time I went it was one of my favortite singers. Fairs are great because of all the different things they have going on. There's great food, fun games, crazy rides, and even places to shop. I always snag some cotton candy and funnel cake before I head home.

9. Tailgate at a college football game.
Now I'm not the biggest football fan, I would much rather baseball, but there is just something about tailgating at a college football game. And the best part of this is showing some school spirit, there is so much room for outfit planning when it comes to supporting your team. Whether you want to be that crazy fan with the painted face and crazy colored hair or just wear a cute outfit with some of your team colors sprikled in its all up to you. So even if you really aren't that into football grab some friends, cold drinks and some food and give it a try. But if your school is like mine and doesn't have a football team, you could tailgate for other sports, which ever is the most popular at your school, or do what I did and head to a big football school to watch some games, but that can get a little pricey.

10. Cuddle by a fire.

Grab a blanket and some s'mores supplies and snuggle up next to a fire in your backyard. This can be way much fun if you have a cuddle budy, but hey you do you! Or grab your favorite book or movie and relax next to your fireplace inside your house. Either way it is a great way to embrace the cooling down of the weather in fall.

My Fall Bucket List

11. Go on a hike.
November 17th is National Take a Hike Day, it's a good way to get outside and explore. It is also a good way to help support the national park systems and with over 60,000 miles of trails you will have no problem finding one near you. If you aren't that big into hiking there are different trails for all levels of hikers, you can also just go to your local park and take a stroll through the woods area.

12. Take a fall foliage walk or drive.
This could be done with some friends or by yourself. I would recommend going to a local or state park, with lots of trees or taking a drive down woodsy back roads. You can just walk or drive along and see and the beautful nature scene that falls has created. It's a good place to put your phone down and just enjoy the fresh air.

13. Take pictures with leaves.

Raking up leaves is one of the biggest chores of the fall season, I know it's a daunting task but this is a good way to make it a little more fun. Just grab the camera and let loose by throwing some leaves around.

My Fall Bucket List

14. Wear some plaid!
This is absolutely my favorite part of the fall. I'm obsessed with wearing all different kinds of plaids. I love wearing flannels, they are perfect for the fall. They are both comfy and cozy and they go perfectly with any fall wardrobe.

15. Wear all different kinds of fall boots.
Fall is all about the boots. There are so many different kinds that go perfect with a fall themed wardrobe. Some examples would be duck boots, riding boots, brown booties, and rain boots. It's good to have shoes for the different weather throughout the season, such as rain boots for rainy days. Duck boots for the day after it rains, when is still a little muddy, or even in the rain. Riding boots are a perfect pair to jeans, and even some skirts and dresses.

16. Dress in layers! (Finally)

As the weather is cooling down it's the perfect time to wear layers. There are so many ways that you can choose to add layers to your wardrobe. My favorite addition is putting a vest on top of sweaters or flannels. I love them so much and they are perfect for fall because they can help keep you warm without getting to hot.

My Fall Bucket List

17. Go to an Oktoberfest event.

This is a great way to have some new experiences, try new beers or if you aren't that into beers try some new pretzels (This is probably my favorite part). It's a fun way to get to know a differnt culture and the festivals they have. This is something that I've seen other people do so I'd thought I'd give it a try (since I'm German and all). You can always check your local bars to see if they have any events going on and give it a go.

19. Stargaze in the back of a truck.

Grab some cozy blankets and pillows, maybe even an air mattress, throw it in the bed of a truck and head out to an open field. Try to find a place with less light pollution because you will get a better view of the stars and if you are lucky you might get to see a shooting star. If you don't have access to a truck, you can still stargaze with some blankets on the ground.

18. Get scared at a Haunted House.

One of my favorite holidays is Halloween so I love a good scare. I love going to all the differnt types of haunted houses, it doesn't actually have to be a house, it could it a hayride, or a train ride, whichever is closest to you.  There are also different levels of how scary that particular attraction may be and it may depend on the time of day. When I was little we went to one that the local colleges theater program put on and they did a tour of the hauten house for kids and they explained how they did their makeup and other set designs which it was pretty interesting, which means there are opportunities to get involved and not get too scared. But I have also been to one that was so good, and the actors were really great at improv, so when they heard someone call out my name they found me and started calling out my name and creeping up on me. It was one of the scariest haunted houses I've ever experienced but it was awesome.

20.  Get out side as much as possible and enjoy the fall weather!
